Saving Time

If you know me, I am quite an “absent-minded” person.

I would always look for my phone, my key or something else. I hate being in this state of constantly trying to locate my belongings rather than creating value for myself and others. (Currently I am trying to locate my Kindle White!! Where are you? Please come back to me <3)

Nonetheless, I have some quick, short-term ways to solve this issue of mine!

I started to tie down my items to my purse. My lip balm, wallet, student ID and credit cards are now all tied to my purse. This way, they are always there and attach to my purse, I won’t be able to leave it anywhere else, so no time wasting to find them!

This comes down to my second tip: Have an assigned location for all my things and always remember to return them to the assigned location. This is particularly a good tip for my car keys. My husband and I both know the designated spot for them as we share a car.

Third tip is to use the iTags. I purchased them after I almost lost my purse with my wallet and everything attached to it. Now, I have iTags on my key and purse! At least I will know where they are from now on.

Another one that I appreciate is to use clear plastic bins or containers. It is way easier to find something or organize stuff when you can see the items from the outside.

Lastly, for organizing things, I love using wall hooks. When you have your belongings or most used items like hats, mittens, scarfs (especially in the winter) visible on the walls, you are less likely to lose them or buy replacement because you know you have them and they are always there.

Some long-term methods to spend less time locating stuff are:

1) Just have fewer things to control by decluttering. This is my life motto right now to own less and own just enough. I am so liberated by this practice.

2) Use up what I already have and buy less.

3) Be more mindful of what I am doing at the presence!

Love, Thao
