I came across this book “ON CONFIDENCE” by the School of Life accidentally at the Forest Lawn Library.
The book is not thick or big. However, the amount of wisdom it packs neatly in 50 pages of 4 by 6 inch is immeasurable. I never regret reading it.
I long wanted to explore confidence as it is an important trait everyone needs to have and should have to contribute meaningfully to themselves and the society.
The most important lesson this books teaches me is:
But most of us (including me) don’t understand how it works so we fail to control it especially when we need it the most.
The most important thing I learn from this book is that:
Confidence is not believing in the knowledge or skills we possess, but is acknowledging and accepting what we don’t have.
How beautiful is that we are MOST confident when we accept that we don’t know enough.
To be most confident, we can control what we can (what we know), and let go of control of what we can’t (what we don’t know).
By expanding our knowledge and skills, our area of control will increase. However, because we are not supposed to know everything, we should always stay humble and open-minded.
It’s the walking the balance between expertise and humility will give you the most confidence.
You can borrow this book from the Calgary Public Library or your local libraries.
